Pacific islands invasive species data to be available globally

Helping Pacific islands publish data on alien and invasive species to support invasive species management is at the core of a regional workshop at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) this week.

Battling Invasive Species in the Pacific : outcomes of the regional GEF-PAS IAS project

The GEF-PAS funded project "Prevention, control and management of invasive alien species in the Pacific islands' was implemented from late 2011 until September 2016.  The project which involved the nine participating countries of Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Nue, Palau, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu, was designed to assist in implementing the regional framework "Guidelines for Managing Invasive Species in the Pacific.
 

Fishing commission’s moves on conservation praised

SPREP gears up to host Twenty Eighth Meeting of Officials in Samoa

The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) will be holding its Twenty Eighth Meeting of Officials in Apia next week. The Meeting brings together Members of the governing council of SPREP to discuss strategic issues and to approve the 2018-19 work plan for the organisation.

Niue - New Zealand announces funding to support whale research in Niue

Research to further help unlock the secrets of the Oceania Humpback Whale in Niue will take place with support from the government of New Zealand.  This will help further assist in the protection and conservation of humpback whales in the Pacific.
