The CTI-CFF is a multilateral partnership of six countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste) formed to address the urgent threats facing the coastal and marine resources of the Coral Triangle.
In 2009, the leaders adopted a 10 year CTI Regional Plan of Action with five goals:
- strengthening management of seascapes
- promoting an ecosystem approach to fisheries management
- management of MPAs
- resilience to climate change
- protecting threatened species
One of the CTI goals aims to establish a fully functioning and effectively managed region-wide Coral Triangle Marine Protected Area System (CTMPAS). Significant accomplishments have been made towards this goal and the Coral Triangle Atlas contains the database for MPAs in the Coral Triangle and is used as a means to track progress towards a fully functional MPA system across the region.
The CTI-CFF website contains a Resources Section with many useful reports and materials.
