Vanuatu’s biggest lake on Gaua Island in TORBA Province, Lake Letes, has been formally registered by the Government of Vanuatu as a Community Conservation Area. Lake Letes is also Vanuatu’s first registered Ramsar site under the Convention on Wetlands, which is an international treaty that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.
