The SIDS have some of the most diverse and unique ecosystems in the world, and are home to a host of rare endemic species. Many of the threats to biodiversity are addressed in national biodiversity strategies and action plans but remain important challenges due to a lack of adequate capacities and data to efficiently implement and monitor national conservation actions.
