At present this tab includes the following two pressure indicators from the Digital Observatory for Protected Areas (DOPA):

Population Pressure Index:
0.00
The index values (Habitat Replaceability, Agricultural Pressure, Population Pressure, Species Coverage) have not been calculated for Parc du lagon sud: Ilot Amédée et Grand Récif Aboré.

This index is calculated as the average population density (people per km2 land area; Source: Gridded Population of the World v3) for the year 2000 in the buffer area of the protected area. The buffer area includes all areas within 3 hour travelling time from the protected area boundary (see Hartley et al. 2007 and Dubois et al. 2013 for details). The indicator shows potential pressure on the protected area from human populations and their activities.

Agricultural Pressure Index:
0.00
The index values (Habitat Replaceability, Agricultural Pressure, Population Pressure, Species Coverage) have not been calculated for Parc du lagon sud: Ilot Amédée et Grand Récif Aboré.

This indicator quantifies the amount of agricultural areas and other areas with high human influence (e.g. cities) found in the immediate vicinity of the protected area. It is calculated based on the extent of land cover classes with high human influence (Source: Global Land Cover 2000) in the year 2000 within a 30 km buffer around the protected area boundary. The percentage of cells with high human influence was counted within each 1 km buffer (from 1-30 km) and inversely weighted by the distance to the protected area boundary (see Hartley et al. 2007 and Dubois et al. 2013 for details). The indicator shows potential pressure on the protected area from agricultural conversion and other anthropogenic pressures arising from current land cover around the protected area.

In the future this tab will also include key indicators of management effectiveness and governance quality. This information will come, for example, from the Global Database on Protected Area Management Effectiveness (GDPAME) and the assessments conducted in the context of the BIOPAMA project (e.g. in Central Africa), and link to relevant resources such as the IUCN World Heritage Outlook (for natural World Heritage sites).
