New UN report calls for urgent help for world's oceans

A new United Nations report calls for an urgent change in the way the world's oceans are managed. The report from the International Resource Panel, hosted by the UN Environment Program, raises concerns that if changes are not made quickly, the consequences will be dire.

US plans to protect thousands of miles of coral reefs in Pacific and Caribbean
December 11, 2020

In a long-awaited move from the Trump administration, the US has proposed critical habitat protections for twelve coral species in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean. The rules would protect over 6,000 sq miles (nearly 16,000 sq km) of critical coral habitat.
