Morobe is urging the national government to adequately address environmental concerns raised by landowners of impacted communities before the approval to operate can be granted. Goveronr Sinson Saonu told the Conservation Environment Protection Authority (CEPA) officials this week that the people were concerned about the potential environmental impacts the proposed deep-sea tailings placement (DSTP) may have on the natural environment.
