The Pacific Community (SPC) organised a gathering of key project stakeholders, training providers, and members of the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and Stakeholder Endorsement Committee (SEC) to develop a Micro Qualification (MQ) for two programs: (1) Develop a Marine Spatial Plan and (2) Conduct Marine Spatial Planning analysis using geospatial tools.
The review and endorsement workshop were carried out in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from October 6 to 8, 2025. This development is the first of its kind to develop a Pacific-specific micro qualification that is tailored for the needs of ocean policy and decision makers in the Pacific. Capacity building is a strong outcome of this work.
