The Papua New Guinea Environmental Council is now operational following a two-year absence. This council is a key component of the Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA), which oversees the highest-tier environment permits.
Brendan Trawen, CEPA's Director for Renewable Energy, announced the council's activation at the PNG Investment Conference 2024 in Sydney today. "The Environmental Council is now active after being dormant for two years. It is specifically focused on major projects classified as Level 3, "Trawen explained. "The council will address significant environmental impacts associated with these Level 3 projects".
