MPAs can provide benefits like protecting endangered species or helping replenish fish stocks that spill into neighboring fisheries...But for MPAs to actually reach the level of protection needed to mitigate those impacts of climate change, experts say the UN will have to think much more critically about how they regulate those areas and what will happen to countries that fail to deliver on their promises.
