The Malualalo Conservation and Tourism Association (MCTA) from Three Sisters in the Makira Ulawa Province has taken a step further to have Malualalo Island gain legal recognition under the Protected areas Act 2010. The MCTA was established in 2014 and it conservation is currently managed through local community initiative established in 2010. Although the islands ecosystems have been restored after 10 years of conservation there are still challenges such as lack of resources to maintain conservation efforts...
