A crucial event for the protection of biodiversity, the World Conservation Congress in Marseille received many ambassadors from island territories, including Polynesia. The Minister of the Environment, Heremoana Maamaatuaiahutapu presented the concept of a managed marine area, and a delegation from the Marquesas Islands also came to defend its marine protected area project on 60% of its waters.
