On the island of Taveuni, where the lush greenery meets the deep blue of the Pacific, 43-year old Organic Farmer, Mr. Liopoli Cirimaitoga, is proving that the land can heal if given the chance. Having reforested 100 acres of once-barren, degraded land, he is leading by example, showing his fellow farmers that they do not need to encroach on the Taveuni Forest Reserve to sustain their livelihoods.

Standing on his farm, Mr. Cirimaitoga, gestures toward the distant hills where the Taveuni Forest Reserve also known as the Blue Line Boundary is visible. “You can see the blue line boundary from here, and we’re using what we’ve learned to reforest areas that are bare,” he said with a quiet determination.
