Island communities in the Mariana Islands have a closer connection to the ocean than many parts of the world. For thousands of years, the CHamoru people have relied heavily upon the ocean and land for survival. What we do on land is magnified many folds on surrounding waters because of our reliance on the reefs and the fish that inhabits them.
