The Cook Islands recently hosted an international workshop on deep seabed (SBM) environmental management and monitoring from 26 to 29 July 2021...Topics discussed during the workshop included the SBM international legal framework and the application of the precautionary approach, the responsibilities of sponsoring states, environmental risk and impact assessments, environmental data sharing, and deep-sea technologies.
