Marine mammals could play a role in Guam's future economic recovery, according to Sen. Kelly Marsh. Marsh and Brent Tibbatts, a biologist from the Guam Department of Agriculture, discussed why marine mammals in the waters of the Mariana Islands are important ecologically and have the potential to help the island's tourism industry. At least 24 varieties of whales exist or migrate near the west side of the Mariana Islands, which serve as a resting point for the mammals.
