In April 2019, researchers and members of local communities from around Bougainville completed the first survey on ants on Bougainville Island. During the following months, the project will continue with more detailed analysis of encountered insect species  and will make findings accessible to communities, the government and the public. The islands of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands are renowned for their extraordinary biological diversity.
