The Solomon Islands Ministry of Agriculture and Liverstock is pleading with farmers and communities to support its fight against the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle. The beetle is a major threat to the country's coconut industry. The director of Biosecurity, Francis Tsatsia, says the insect is now widely spread across the Solomon Islands.
