The people of West Coast Santo have rallied against a proposal by a Chinese-owned logging company on their land. Director of Forestry Department, Rexon Vira, explained a Chinese company, Vanuatu Forestry Product Limited, is interested in clearing forests and making wood chips. Vira said the Chinese-owned company will not only targeted big trees but other trees such as ‘Navenue’ trees.
