Corals have declined by 50% over the last 30 years, with losses of 70-90% expected by mid-century. This mass decline is largely attributed to human activity. One of the major threats to coral is sediment runoff from deforested areas, with research estimating 41% of the world’s coral reefs are affected by sediment export.
