Launched just under a year ago under the aegis of the CNRS foundation, and officially presented this Tuesday evening, the Science4Reefs foundation has set itself the mission of better understanding and protecting corals. These living beings endangered by human activities are nevertheless essential to the survival of coral reefs.
Why did you create Science4Reefs and not just work in the laboratory? “To take action,” answers Dr. Laetitia Hédouin, president of the Science4Reefs foundation and founding member with, in particular, marine biologist Serges Planes. Holder of a doctorate in marine biology from the University of La Rochelle, she is recognized for her research on the resilience of corals in the face of climate change. With a distinguished career at the international level, she combines scientific expertise and a passion for reef preservation. She emphasizes the urgency of preserving corals. “I wanted to put my scientific curiosity at the service of society. We need concrete things.”
