Research conducted in New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna into mapping traditional knowledge has underscored the crucial role that knowledge circulation plays in strengthening agricultural resilience to climate change. By mapping the networks through which farmers exchange knowledge, the PROTEGE project is not only highlighting effective practices, but also emphasising the need for continuous support from local institutions and policy makers.

As climate resilience is a collective challenge, knowledge exchange is becoming essential to boost innovation and share solutions for adapting to climate shifts. The concept of “knowledge circulation” spans several research fields, combining traditional and scientific knowledge. In order for institutions to fully leverage their expertise, understanding how knowledge circulates within them is crucial.
