The Government of the Republic of Palau and the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 17, 2025, establishing hosting arrangements for the Office of the Pacific Ocean Commissioner (OPOC) in Palau.
The MOU signing took place in Koror, following the inauguration of Palau’s President, His Excellency Surangel Whipps Jr. The establishment of OPOC in Palau was approved by Pacific Islands Forum Leaders during the 2023 Special Leaders Retreat in Nadi, Fiji.
