The Senior Program Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the successful
implementation, coordination, and management of OneReef’s initiatives in Palau and Yap. This role
will drive our integrated stewardship approach—building community, ecological, and cultural
resilience—by leading national program coordinators, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and
ensuring all projects align with OneReef’s mission and strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
• Oversee the coordination and execution of local and regional initiatives in alignment with
OneReef’s mission.
• Lead and support a team of program coordinators across multiple communities to ensure
project excellence.
• Foster collaboration among internal teams, communities, partners, and other stakeholders.
• Co-develop and implement strategic community plans for Palau and Yap with the Director of
Programs and the OneReef Micronesia team.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on program performance and impact.
• Provide regular updates and reports to the Director of Programs and other key stakeholders.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, government agencies,
NGOs, communities, and other partners.
• Mentor and build capacity among team members and local coordinators.
• Contribute actively to shaping and advancing the OneReef approach, helping to strengthen its
impact, relevance, and reach across communities.
• Represent OneReef at regional meetings, conferences, and forums.
Qualifications & experience
• Strong passion for community engagement, natural resource management, and cultural
preservation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse groups.
• Self-driven, flexible, and open to new approaches and methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural, community-
based settings.
• Strategic thinker with a results-driven approach.
• Willingness to travel to remote locations within the Micronesia region.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Community Development, Project Management,
or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Experience in managing community-based sustainable development programs.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); proficiency in at least one Micronesian language
preferred.
• Proven track record in managing and leading diverse, multi-site teams.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Familiarity with project management and financial tracking tools is an advantage.
