Cook Islands and French Polynesia have discussed a potential memorandum of understanding regarding sustainable development and marine resource management. Secretary of Marine Resources Pamela Maru met with President of French Polynesia, Moetai Brotherson, and Minister of Marine Resources, Taivini Teai, in December 2025 to discuss current and future challenges in Pacific fisheries governance.
