Tuvalu partnering with Sea Shepherd to fight IUU fishing

The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sea Shepherd Global to have the latter conduct sea patrols as a deterrent to increasing levels of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing occurring Tuvalu’s waters.

China blocks SPRFMO from placing two of its vessels on IUU blacklist

China has used the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organization’s consensus-based decision-making mechanism to block the listing of two Zhoushan-based fishing vessels on SPRFMO’s illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing blacklist.
