‘Aopo village in Savai’i, Samoa, is one step closer to securing fair access and benefit sharing of the community’s genetic resources. Access and Benefit Sharing, also known as ABS, refers to the way in which genetic resources may be accessed, and how the benefits that result from their use are shared between the people or countries using the resources and the people or countries that provide them.
