As part of the preparation for the third conference organized by the United Nations (UNOC3) on the protection of the oceans, the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources, Environment, in collaboration with the High Commission, have actively prepared the participation of French Polynesia in this event which will take place in 2025 in Nice.
A working meeting on the progress of the various works put in place to protect the oceans was organized Wednesday at the presidency as part of the preparation for the third conference organized by the United Nations (UNOC3) on the protection of the oceans. French Polynesia is committed to several points: the preservation of its coral reefs and the health of its lagoons; the strengthening of scientific cooperation and the acquisition of knowledge on the deep seabed; the promotion of its unique model of protection of marine spaces and resources. It was also a question of placing the ocean at the heart of its 2030 sustainable innovation strategy, and of demonstrating its capacity to develop renewable marine energies. All these subjects were validated by the public services of the Country present, the State services and the representatives of the research centers. With a very specific aim of making the voice of the island territories heard in the international debates on the preservation of the oceans, both by their expertise and by their desire to encourage other nations to adopt more sustainable solutions.
