Last May, a team from the Polynesian Ornithological Society (SOP Manu) went to meet the Tūtururū. Also called the Erythroptera gallicolombe, the species has an estimated 200 individuals in the Actaeon group (Tuamotu) and is one of the five species to which the SOP Manu is dedicating body and soul to prevent their extinction. Today, the first results of the expedition make it possible to prepare a translocation action of 30 specimens for 2025-2026, potentially on the atoll of Temoe (Gambier).
