Aided by traditional Samoan healers, researchers isolated the bioactive compounds from the leaves of a small, tropical tree called Psychotria insularum. The leaf extract, along with the isolated compounds, was recently discovered to prevent the production of inflammatory molecules in immune cells as well as ibuprofen did.
