This Guideline sets out the background to financing protected areas and identifies a series of approaches that can be taken towards achieving protected area financial sustainability.
It includes many examples and case studies that describe funding challenges as well as some excellent suggestions of ways to move forward. Unfortunately none of the case studies are from the Pacific Islands. Despite this, the conclusions and recommendations should still assist protected area managers in the region to find sustainable solutions to financing challenges.
