Sustainable fishing practices boost marine species

Communities in the Lau Group of islands have initiated sustainable fishing practices, says Fiji Locally Managed Marine Area (FLMMA) sustainable finance officer Peniana Wainiu. This was made possible after numerous consultations through the Lau Seascape Initiative.

Changes to MSC fisheries standard up for public review

Samoa looks to international fisheries cooperation

Government signs MOU with Waitt Institute

The Fijian government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Waitt Institute to help Fiji develop a sustainable ocean plan. The US-based institute creates and implements sustainable ocean plans in partnership with committed governments, local stakeholders, and communities.
