Lee, T. and Middleton, J. 2003. Guidelines for Management Planning of Protected Areas. IUCN Gland, Switzerland and Cambridge, UK.
Although this guide is written from a global perspective, it has a lot of information that could be useful to managers embarking on a management planning process, or creating plans for suc.
The guidelines include definitions of protected areas and background to related subjects such as management planning, legislative requirements etc. The second section of the guide contains requirements for successful preparation and implementation. A 13- step process is described for developing a protected area management plan with the community and one section is dedicated to the importance of including all stakeholders in the process.
The guide also discusses the international dimension to management planning (World heritage sites, UNESCO Biosphere reserves, Transboundary arrangements etc).
