Taiyo Micronesia Corporation criminally charged for unlawful removal of shark fins

The Taiyo Micronesia Corporation (TMC) has been charged with unlawful removal of shark fins. TMC is a joint venture between a Japanese fishing company, Taiyo A & F Corporation, and the National Fisheries Corporation (NFC) of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).

In a stunning achievement in the protection of the marine environment, a record 13,000 hatchlings of endangered turtle species have been released off the idyllic Conflict Islands in a project supported by the guest funded P&O Pacific Partnership.

Critically endangered sea creatures fall victim to drift nets

The hawksbill turtle found dead in waters off Pulau Hantu earlier this month had been so tightly bound by a drift net that the man who freed the carcass found the animal's head severed from its body.
